Muscut (Ukr. Мускáт) is etymologically a syllabic abbreviation of two words, Music and Cutting. The label was founded in 2012 by Dmytro Nikolaienko in Kyiv and remained active until the end of 2025. Its sublabel Shukai (Ukr. Шукáй, meaning “Look For”) was established in Kyiv in 2018 by Dmytro Nikolaienko, Dmytro Prutkin, and Alec Tsapenko. Shukai remains active and focuses on bringing back to life lost Ukrainian tapes from the 1960s to the 1990s.
